“Old-school underground dive with pool and games”

Melrose Billiard Parlor has been pouring since 1944 in the basement under 8th Ave S, and locals still call it Dirty Melrose. There are five pool tables ($9 an hour), two free ping pong tables, free darts and shuffleboard, foosball and Golden Tee, plus 12 taps and a full bar. Food is pizza by the slice.

The 444 happy hour runs 4 to 8 PM every day with $4 beer and $4 well liquor, and pool is half price weekdays 4 to 8. Mondays bring half-off local beer after 8 PM, and Wednesday is happy hour all day. It is 21 and up and no longer allows smoking.
