The Local’s Take

“Dark, friendly neighborhood tavern with a back deck”

Mickey's is the dark, no-frills tavern on the Gallatin Pike strip just north of Douglas, in a building that's poured drinks since about 1950. Inside it's pool, foosball, darts and a jukebox the Nashville Scene named best in 2015. Out back there's a covered treehouse deck, the only place you can smoke.

The back bar carries 75-plus whiskeys, including Buffalo Trace's Antique line, and the wells are a step up from most dives. Happy hour runs until 6 PM every day. Food is simple: hot ham and cheese or grilled cheese, plus food trucks some nights.
