The Local’s Take

“Low-key hotel bar where songwriters play their own hits”

The Commodore Grille is the bar and grill inside the hotel at 2613 West End Ave, across from Vanderbilt, and it is best known for its nightly Nashville Songwriter's Showcase: writers playing their own songs in the round, seven nights a week. It is a quieter, more local version of Nashville music than Lower Broad, and it is family-friendly.

Happy hour runs weekdays, 4 to 6 PM, and the dinner menu starts at 5, with the music from 6 PM Sunday to Thursday and 7 PM on Friday and Saturday. The food is easy bar-and-grill fare: $16 classic wings in TN whiskey BBQ, garlic parmesan or buffalo, $18 chili nachos and a $14 spinach artichoke dip. On the regular menu, domestic beers are $6 and classic cocktails $16.
