“Candlelit wine bar in an old church”

Bad Idea is a wine bar and restaurant inside a converted church on Russell Street, named one of the 50 best restaurants in America by the New York Times and a James Beard semifinalist. The wine list runs past 150 artisan bottles, and the program won the 2025 Michelin American South Sommelier Award. Dinner is a seasonal menu of snacks, small plates and mains, and the bar has its own $25 burger with pepper jack and fries that you can only order there. A short early happy hour runs 5 to 6 PM Sunday through Thursday.
