“Old-school neighborhood dive with TVs”

Batters Box is the Rutledge Hill holdout on Hermitage Ave, a few blocks from Broadway but priced like it is decades away. It's a mellow sports bar, and regulars come for cheap cold beer, games on the TVs, Golden Tee, a jukebox and thin-crust pizza from a kitchen that runs late. It has its own small parking lot and a patio with a view of the downtown skyline that looks great at night. Fair warning: smoking is allowed inside, which keeps some people out and is exactly why others love it. It opens at 9:30 AM and stays open until 3 AM every day.
