The Local’s Take

“Intimate, shush-friendly songwriter showcase”

The Listening Room Cafe has championed songwriters since 2006, and its 4th Ave S room in SoBro is where hit writers and up-and-comers play to a quiet, attentive crowd. It is a full-service restaurant and bar too, with Southern food, local drafts (TailGate, Jackalope, Bearded Iris, New Heights) and cocktails like Uncle Zebo's margarita (also by the pitcher). Saturday brunch runs 10 AM to 3 PM with shows at 10:30 AM and 1 PM, and the menu covers fried chicken biscuits (original or Nashville hot), a breakfast burrito, CB's Slinger hash brown casserole, smoked wings and smash burgers. Dinner is 4 to 10 PM, and after the last show drafts and domestics are half price, so stick around to meet the songwriters. Shows are ticketed, so check the calendar. The front bar has free live music for happy hour on Thursdays and Fridays, 4 to 5:30 PM, with no cover or minimum.
