Deacon's New South is a Southern steakhouse on the ground floor of the historic L&C Tower at 4th and Church, with a bar program built around post-Prohibition and Art Deco era cocktails. The weekday bar happy hour, 4 to 6 PM, is one of the better downtown deals: an $8 Nelson's Green Brier peach old fashioned, $9 hibiscus margarita, $12 Nelson's whiskey flight, $8 wine and house spirits, $5 beers, and bar bites like cornbread with ham butter, Nashville hot deviled eggs and a pimento cheese burger with bourbon-bacon glaze.
