“Old-school, smoky neighborhood dive”

The Villager is Hillsboro Village's longtime dive: a dark, no-frills tavern on 21st with free darts, dart leagues, a jukebox and foosball. Regulars come for cold, cheap beer and the kitchen's chicken and andouille gumbo and roast beef po' boy. It opens at 2 PM Monday through Thursday and noon Friday through Sunday, and stays open until 2:30 AM every night. It is a women-owned bar, and people praise the bartenders by name. Expect a smoky room. There's a happy hour too, so ask the bartender what's on.
